Teddy in a Bag

These two different versions of Teddy in a bag  arrived while we were anchored off the beautiful island of culatra. It was an isolated spot with lots of time for relaxation and knitting needles..

I had made the teddy above as a Christmas Tree decoration with a small loop on the top some years ago but thought it would look cute in a bag. The one below is a different version and from a Jean Greenhowe pattern book - www.jeangreenhowe.com

The bag was complete by using a twisted cord which I threaded around the top of the bag and pulled slightly to make tighter.

Lifeboat man - RNLI

I really enjoyed knitting these fiddly little RNLI guys. The smaller one was created somewhere between Cascais and Sines in Portugal waters. Between dolphin watching, enjoying the relaxation and fantastic sunny weather, the knitting needles clacked away.

Again the pattern was one of Jean Greenhowe's and can be found here - www.jeangreenhowe.com.

Nick added a rope on the larger one and buttons were used for eyes. The smaller one was fun to make and quite a few adjustments were made to the pattern. The vest took some patients to work out and was knit several times to get the right size.

Hello Sailor

We wanted a mascot for our yacht Bonaventure so I had the perfect excuse for getting the knitting needles out again.

I wanted to knit a sailor and after much searching, I found a great pattern by Jean Greenhowe which can be found here - www.jeangreenhowe.com

Jean has many pattern great pattern books available.

I decided buttons would make great eyes.

Nick stitched Bonaventure on his tally band and our mascot was born.

The smaller version came a little while later and was made in Portuguese waters. Making this half the size needed a little bit of juggling with the pattern as it wasn't just a case of halving it. After several adjustments, he was complete.
